Soccer Game Preview: Proviso East vs. Hinsdale Central

The Proviso East Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the Hinsdale Central Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Proviso East is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They skirted past Proviso West 1-0. Proviso East wouldn't have won without Ashley Avila, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Hinsdale Central had already won eight in a row and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Mustangs. The game was the first time Hinsdale Central have beaten Metea Valley on their pitch since March 15, 2016.

Hinsdale Central was without their leading scorer, Caitlin Doherty, in Thursday's game. With Doherty sitting this one out, Emeline McClenahan got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 51.7).

Hinsdale Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. As for Proviso East, their victory bumped their record up to 5-15.

Proviso East suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Hinsdale Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
