Basketball Recap: Baylor Arnold's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Veritas Prep over ALA - Anthem South

Veritas Prep came up into this matchup off a tough 31-point loss last Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the ALA - Anthem South Titans by a score of 43-41 on Thursday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Veritas Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Baylor Arnold, who posted 11 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jackson O'Malley, who put up nine points.

Even though they lost, Veritas Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

ALA - Anthem South got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jace Marsh out in front who had 13 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Rosemond, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Veritas Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for ALA - Anthem South, their victory ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-14.

Veritas Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-68 win against Horizon Honors on the 21st. As for ALA - Anthem South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 58-48 loss against Heritage Academy on the 21st.
