Preview: Lamar Thunder vs. Woodland Park Panthers
The Lamar Thunder will head out on the road to face off against the Woodland Park Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lamar is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Lamar had to settle for a 24-22 loss against La Junta.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Deyago Vasquez, who threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Braxen Shelton also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Woodland Park came up short against Sand Creek on Friday and fell 26-18. Woodland Park has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Woodland Park saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aidan Hood, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all.
The losses dropped Lamar to 3-4 and Woodland Park to 2-5.
Lamar couldn't quite finish off Woodland Park in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 and fell 18-16. Thankfully for Lamar, Aiden Hernandez (who rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
