Volleyball Recap: Seabreeze Comes Up Short

Seabreeze was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Matanzas Pirates. While the Sandcrabs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 25-12 in the first set.

Seabreeze wouldn't go down easily and took Matanzas into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 15-7.

Seabreeze's offense was headlined by Baylee Brown and Isabella Tedesco, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Brianna Dicks and her 18 assists. Finally, Carley Bandell kept Seabreeze's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Seabreeze's record is now 11-9. As for Matanzas, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Coming up, Seabreeze will challenge Pine Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Matanzas, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against George Jenkins on the 3rd.
