Basketball Recap: Mayfield Triumphs

Mayfield's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Carlisle County Comets by a score of 65-56. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Carlisle County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Wyatt Rickard went 8-for-12 to rack up 23 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. That was a full 41.1% of Carlisle County's points, marking the third time in a row Rickard has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kylen King, who earned seven points.

Mayfield's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Carlisle County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Mayfield has already played their next game, a 76-61 win against Caldwell County on the 17th. As for Carlisle County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-51 victory against Livingston Central on the 15th.
