After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wando, Berkeley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Stratford Knights. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.
Berkeley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-13.
Ava Baker paced Berkeley's offense, picking up 16 kills. Baker got some help from Joanna Villeponteaux and her 19 assists. Villeponteaux was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.
Berkeley's victory bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Stratford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12-1 record this season.
