Basketball Game Preview: Bedford Kicking Mules vs. Allen Park Jaguars

The Bedford Kicking Mules will face off against the Allen Park Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Bedford sitting on five straight victories and Allen Park on nine.

Bedford's tournament run continued when they took on Monroe on Friday. Bedford breezed past Monroe to the tune of 63-23. The Kicking Mules have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Allen Park hadn't done well against Riverview recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Allen Park came out on top against Riverview by a score of 43-33. The win was all the more spectacular given the Jaguars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Pirates are ranked 153rd).

Allen Park's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.8 points on average over those games. As for Bedford, their win bumped their record up to 21-2.

Everything went Bedford's way against Allen Park in their previous meeting back in December of 2014, as Bedford made off with a 54-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bedford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
