Softball Recap: Leo Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Saturday. Leo had just enough and edged out Elkhart 3-1. The win was just business as usual for Leo, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Leah Shappell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Leo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Connally, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Connally is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Leo pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Elkhart, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Leo beat Elkhart by a score of 10-9 later that day.
