Cook Posts Huge Game in 28-7 Victory

Starting off the list is Grass Lake's Bryant Cook, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Cook picked up 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 75 yards.

Grass Lake's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-3. Cook and Grass Lake will venture away from home to square off against Addison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Michigan Center came up short on Friday despite Braylon Brown delivering his best game to date. Brown rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries.

On the season, Brown has run in 8 touchdowns while averaging 84.8 rushing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after eight games last season, he was only averaging 39.75 rushing yards per game.

Another Game with at Least Seven Total Tackles from Braylen Villarreal

Michigan Center came up short on Friday despite Braylen Villarreal delivering his best game to date. Villarreal wasn't messing around, forcing a fumble and making 18 total tackles. The matchup was his eighth straight with seven or more total tackles dating back to last season.

For the year, Villarreal has averaged 10.5 total tackles per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 0.25 total tackles per game.

Grass Lake Gets a Boost from Lape in 28-7 Win

The second Grass Lake player making an appearance here is Brayden Lape, and for good reason. He threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Grass Lake is undefeated when Lape posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Leslie's probably not too fond of Lape given he always seems to get the better of them. When Lape last faced the Blackhawks back in October of 2023, he threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
