Softball Game Preview: Karns City Gremlins vs. Highlands Golden Rams

Karns City is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Highlands a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Karns City Gremlins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Highlands Golden Rams at 6:00 p.m.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Karns City's offense. They came up short against Sharon on Thursday, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Highlands got the win against Penn Hills on Monday by a conclusive 14-2.

Madison Gorney made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Gorney was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carrah Scardina, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Gabby Chambers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI.

Highlands was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Penn Hills only posted a batting average of .062.

Highlands' win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Karns City, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
