Basketball Recap: Scarlett Mcclaran Key Part of a Team Effort in Falcons Win

There's no place like home for Volunteer, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They managed a 50-44 victory over the Jefferson County Patriots on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Patriots back in December of 2024, they had to take a 46-40 loss.

Volunteer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Scarlett McClaran, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave McClaran a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Courtney Bellamy, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds.

The win snapped Volunteer's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-14 record. As for Jefferson County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Volunteer and Jefferson County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Volunteer (ranked 249th) will meet Grainger (ranked 108th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Jefferson County will challenge Morristown-Hamblen East at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 206 places (218 vs. 12).
