Basketball Recap: Navarro Takes a Loss

Navarro's last matchup with New Braunfels could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Panthers took a blow against the Unicorns, falling 55-25. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Navarro's loss came despite strong showings from Camden Shields and Elle Hepp. Shields posted 16 points, while Hepp scored three points and five boards. That was a full 64% of the Panthers' points, marking the third time in a row Shields has earned more than a third of the team's points. Keza Kate also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Ryler Wilson was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds for New Braunfels. With that strong performance, Wilson is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Michelle Moore, who put up ten points along with eight boards and six assists.

Navarro's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for New Braunfels, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Looking ahead, Navarro is taking a road trip to challenge Southwest Legacy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for New Braunfels, they will be home for the holidays to greet Tivy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
