Baseball Game Preview: Mahtomedi Zephyrs vs. St. Thomas Academy Cadets

The Mahtomedi Zephyrs will head out on the road to face off against the St. Thomas Academy Cadets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Mahtomedi's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so St. Thomas Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mahtomedi's last matchup with Hill-Murray could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Zephyrs came up short against the Pioneers, falling 12-6. The Zephyrs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas Academy came into Friday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 10-6 win over Tartan on Friday.

Mahtomedi's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for St. Thomas Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8-1.

Everything went Mahtomedi's way against St. Thomas Academy in their previous meeting back in April, as Mahtomedi made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Zephyrs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
