Softball Recap: Winthrop Ramblers vs. Monmouth Academy Mustangs

Winthrop extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They came up short against the Monmouth Academy Mustangs, falling 15-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in April.

As for Monmouth Academy, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Monmouth Academy's part, Shannah Parsons made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Parsons has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season.
