Basketball Recap: Isaiah Marte Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Olympian

There's no place like home for San Diego, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Olympian Eagles on Saturday, sneaking past 67-64. This was a revenge game for the Cavers: when they faced off against the Eagles two weeks ago, they had to take a 75-61 loss.

San Diego's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Marte led the charge by going 6 for 11 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. Marte's afternoon made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Treyshawn Degrate, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.

San Diego was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olympian only racked up 11 assists.

Despite the loss, Olympian still got an impressive performance from Sammell Humphries, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points and six boards. That's the most points Humphries has posted since back in November of 2024. Tristan Anderson was another key player, going 7 for 9 en route to 15 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

San Diego's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. As for Olympian, they moved to 19-3 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

San Diego has already played their next contest, a 63-47 victory against Lincoln on the 4th. As for Olympian, they will challenge Montgomery at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Montgomery knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Olympian likes a good challenge.
