Softball Game Preview: Thomas Sumter Academy Generals vs. Marlboro Academy Dragons

After both having extra time off, the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals and the Marlboro Academy Dragons will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomas Sumter Academy hasn't scored more than two runs for five games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Thomas Sumter Academy came up short against Clarendon Hall two weeks ago, falling 16-2.

Kason Carter made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marlboro Academy). Everything went their way against Christ the Cornerstone Academy two weeks ago as they made off with a 22-3 victory. The Dragons have beaten the Defenders the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Defenders has come to flipping the script.

Marlboro Academy got a massive performance out of Madelyn Roscoe, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one double. Those six RBI gave Roscoe a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Herndon, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.

Marlboro Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .906. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Marlboro Academy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Thomas Sumter Academy suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Marlboro Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
