Softball Recap: Elba Tigers vs. Samson Tigers
Elba can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Samson Tigers by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Elba considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Ayrika Caldwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 21 Ks.
On the hitting side, Lady Stinson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was A'Lyric Whitfield, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
On Samson's side, Brantley Edberg led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Phillips, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Elba has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4-2 record this season. As for Samson, they dropped their record down to 10-12 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
