Nelson County came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Dan River Wildcats. Give Nelson County's defense some credit: that's the team's sixth straight shutout.

They hit Dan River with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Clara Moldenhauer (3), Hanna Rivera (3), Erin Hatfield, and Lilly Perry.

Nelson County pushed their record up to 10-3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those four games. As for Dan River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-10-3 record this season.
