Softball Game Preview: Washington Township Senators vs. South Central Satellites

Washington Township hasn't had much luck against South Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Senators will head out to take on the Satellites at 4:30 p.m. Washington Township has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Washington Township lost 12-4 to Westville on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, South Central got themselves on the board against Kouts on Monday, but Kouts never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Mustangs & Fillies. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lexi Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. Those 19 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Taylor Cleek was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Maddy Cleek was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

South Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Washington Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Washington Township couldn't quite get it done against South Central when the teams last played back in April as they fell 7-2. Can the Senators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
