Basketball Recap: Mancos Takes a Loss

Mancos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Bayfield Wolverines 81-30. The Bluejays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-12.

Bayfield was led to victory by Kingston Martinez and Lincoln Williams. Martinez posted 18 points and six rebounds, while Williams earned five points along with eight boards and six steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 28 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Forsythe, who put up 12 points.

Mancos' loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Bayfield, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mancos has already played their next matchup (against Telluride), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bayfield will square off against Ignacio at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Bayfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.
