North Sanpete is 1-9 against Emery since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hawks will host the Spartans at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
North Sanpete took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let South Summit get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Preston Madsen and Hudson Smith made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Madsen pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Smith tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for North Sanpete: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 6-8 otherwise. At bat, Madsen scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Smith scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Madsen a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddex Bailey, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of North Sanpete's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Wyatt Williams, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Emery was able to grind out a solid victory over North Sanpete, taking the game 7-2. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Like North Sanpete, Emery also got a great game from a pair of two-way players: Hayden Abrams. On the mound, Abrams didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Trygg Jensen tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Abrams scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Jensen scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Beau Stilson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
North Sanpete pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Emery, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
