Volleyball Recap: West Johnston Takes a Loss + How To Watch

West Johnston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Lee Cavaliers. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

The final score came out to 25-23, 21-25, 25-15, 25-13.

Savanna Ford paced West Johnston's offense, picking up eight kills. Ford got some help from Paige Cabell and her 17 assists. Cabell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

West Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Southern Lee, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

West Johnston and Southern Lee should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Wildcats will take on Western Harnett at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (208 vs. 477). Meanwhile, Southern Lee (ranked 108th) will meet Jordan-Matthews (ranked 490th) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
