Football Game Preview: Taylor Ducks vs. Northeast Early College Raiders

The Taylor Ducks will take on the Northeast Early College Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Taylor is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Austin Achieve, posting a 73-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Ducks.

Taylor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eric Walker Ii led the charge by rushing for 127 yards and one TD. Walker Ii got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 84 yards. Another player making a difference was Johnny Guzman, who rushed for 30 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Taylor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Taylor didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Adriel Ronquillo and Joshua Meller. Taylor received some extra help from Cory Gleich, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northeast Early College, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They blew past Austin Achieve 40-6 last Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Taylor's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Northeast Early College, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Taylor against Northeast Early College in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-0 victory. Will the Ducks repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
