Softball Recap: Bishop O'connell Makes It 18 in a Row at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bishop O'Connell had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Saint Gertrude Gators a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 13 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Abby Bond, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. MJ Melvin was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Bishop O'Connell pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average this season. As for Saint Gertrude, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Looking ahead, Bishop O'Connell will square off against Paul VI at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Saint Gertrude does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
