El Dorado is 0-3 against Sonora since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. El Dorado will face off against Sonora at 3:30 p.m. El Dorado's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Sonora's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
El Dorado barely beat Garden Grove the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. El Dorado's pitcher stepped up to hand Garden Grove a 12-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Hawks, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

El Dorado got a great performance from Emma Esquivel as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Esquivel a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
At the plate, Jessica Cherms was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Emily Miessner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
El Dorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garden Grove only posted an OBP of .278.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Sonora sidestepped Yorba Linda for a 3-1 win. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by exactly two runs.
Bayle Hunnicutt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aliana Pacheco, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Piwowar, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
The victory made it two in a row for Sonora and bumps their season record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for El Dorado, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. El Dorado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Sonora struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
El Dorado suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Sonora in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can El Dorado avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
