Baseball Recap: Kewanee Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Kewanee's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Sherrard Tigers by a score of 11-6. For the Boilermakers, this counts as revenge for the 8-7 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Colson Welgat, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He also got three hits, which is notable because Kewanee is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 8-14 otherwise. Griffin Hicks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

The victory snapped Kewanee's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-15 record. As for Sherrard, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-7.
