Soccer Game Preview: Lancaster vs. Canisius

The Lancaster Legends will face off against the Canisius Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Lancaster is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Clarence on Wednesday. The Legends fell 2-0 to the Red Devils. While losing is never fun, Lancaster can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Clarence are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Canisius entered their tilt with Aquinas Institute on Thursday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Little Irish by a score of 4-2. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Canisius were the better team in the second half.

They hit Aquinas Institute with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Carter Amodeo, Gabriele Pili, Noah Cosgrove, and Austin Xiao.

This is the second loss in a row for Lancaster and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for Canisius, their record now sits at 6-1-1.

Lancaster couldn't quite get it done against Canisius in their previous matchup back in September of 2023 as they fell 2-0. Can the Legends avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
