Basketball Recap: Mountain Island Charter Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Mountain Island Charter Raptors came up short against the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals and fell 79-66. While losing is never fun, the Raptors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Royals are ranked 118th).

Despite the loss, Mountain Island Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Christan Jones posted 21 points. The matchup was Jones' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Hill, who had 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain Island Charter and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Mountain Island Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-54 victory against A.L. Brown on the 28th. College Prep & Leadership Academy has also already played their next contest, a 49-44 win against South Stanly on the 28th.
