Basketball Game Preview: O'Connor Panthers vs. Holmes Huskies

Two dominant guards in Casey Chavez and Crystal Aragon are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The O'Connor Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Holmes Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Connor will be strutting in after a victory while Holmes will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, O'Connor earned a 58-48 win over Marshall.

Meanwhile, Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 46-22 to Brennan. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Bears are ranked 75th).

O'Connor's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-14. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Holmes, their loss dropped their record down to 16-15.

O'Connor was able to grind out a solid win over Holmes in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 55-47. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Holmes' Domonique Edwards, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will O'Connor still be able to contain Edwards? There's only one way to find out.
