Arizona Lutheran Academy hasn't had much luck against Phoenix Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes will head out to square off against the Phoenix Christian Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Arizona Lutheran Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Arizona Lutheran Academy after they put the first points on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fountain Hills.
Eric Urbieta was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Urbieta was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Aiden Frear was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Phoenix Christian put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy as Phoenix Christian made off with a 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kevin Palafox and Evan Matthews did most of the damage at the plate: Palafox went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Matthews scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sam Shores, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Phoenix Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scottsdale Preparatory Academy only posted a batting average of .167.
Phoenix Christian's record is now 5-0. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arizona Lutheran Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Phoenix Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
