Volleyball Recap: Unity Eagles vs. Bloomer Blackhawks

Unity and Bloomer squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Unity had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Blackhawks. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blackhawks 25-17 in the first set.

Unity started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-15.

Andrea Erickson paced Unity's offense, picking up 23 kills. Erickson got some help from Ella Johnson and her 16 assists. Johnson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Leading Bloomer to victory were Kaycee Schmidt and Brielle Revoir. Schmidt had 13 digs and six aces, while Revoir had 14 digs and two aces. Those six aces gave Schmidt a new career-high.

Unity's loss dropped their record down to 25-14. As for Bloomer, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 23-15.

Unity does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bloomer, they will head out to take on Grantsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
