Basketball Recap: Dontrell Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westside over Baldwin

Westside suffered their closest loss since November 30, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Baldwin Braves by a score of 65-62. The match was a 31-31 toss-up at halftime, but the Patriots couldn't quite close it out.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dontrell Jackson, who posted 29 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Jackson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Aldrion Jones was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Westside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Baldwin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karez Demory out in front who to rack up 24 points. The game was Demory's third in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Mundie, who on his way to 11 points and five assists.

Westside's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Baldwin, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Westside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-49 victory against Harlem on the 14th. As for Baldwin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-37 win against Cross Creek on the 14th.
