Basketball Recap: Mercer Island Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Mercer Island had won four straight at home, but on Monday they bumped up to 5-0 to make it five. They were the clear victors by a 60-40 margin over the Interlake Saints. The 60-point effort marked the Islanders' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

As for Interlake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games.

Despite the loss, Interlake still got an impressive performance from Ty Marcum, who went 6-for-14 en route to 18 points. Adrian Quintana also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Coming up, Mercer Island will head out to challenge Sammamish at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Islanders will be up against the RedHawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.88 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Interlake, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 85-32 loss against Bellevue on the 17th.
