Basketball Recap: Homestead Spartans vs. Northridge Raiders
Homestead had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Northridge Raiders 62-60. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raiders, too.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lily Scholl, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Mohamed, who went 6 for 10 en route to 17 points plus three steals.
Northridge's loss ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1.
Homestead will face off against Fort Wayne Wayne at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Northridge, they will challenge Norwell at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
