Softball Recap: Hersey Comes Up Short

If Hersey was riding high fresh off their 16-2 takedown of Elk Grove on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Huskies took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Niles North Vikings on Wednesday. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Hersey's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Niles North, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Hersey will take on Libertyville at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Niles North, they will head out to square off against Whitney Young at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dolphins have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
