Basketball Recap: Great Hearts Irving Mustangs vs. ILTexas Arlington Eagles
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, the Great Hearts Irving Mustangs couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were beaten by the Eagles 64-24 on Wednesday. Great Hearts Irving's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
ILTexas Arlington found their leader in underclassman Khattab Kanan, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kanan has scored all season. Erik Castaneda was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Great Hearts Irving's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for ILTexas Arlington, they pushed their record up to 17-15 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Great Hearts Irving does not have any more games scheduled as of now. ILTexas Arlington will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
