Football Recap: Keenan's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Keenan needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Hunter O'Neal. The Raiders walked away with a 28-21 victory over the Fox Creek Predators on Friday for which the team can thank O'Neal, who rushed for 122 yards and one score on only 13 carries. He is becoming a predictor of Keenan's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 3-1 (and 0-5 when he doesn't).

Keenan's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Tyreik Davenport-Smith with two sacks. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Keenan received some extra help from Davenport-Smith, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Despite the loss, Fox Creek still got an impressive performance from Bryson Crawford, who rushed for 194 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Nate Owens also helped with two TDs in total.

Keenan's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Fox Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Keenan will host Newberry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fox Creek, they will square off against Swansea at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 13.9 points per game this season, so the Predators' offense will have their work cut out for them.
