Baseball Recap: Lincolnton Wolves vs. Maiden Blue Devils

Lincolnton lost against Maiden back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wolves took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils.

Karson Cloninger was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Cloninger was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Cloninger wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Buckley, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Yorye Urena also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Lincolnton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Maiden, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7.
