Football Game Preview: Bayonne Bees vs. Columbia Cougars

The Bayonne Bees will face off against the Columbia Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bayonne's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.

Bayonne's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hudson Catholic 42-0. That looming 42-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bees yet this season.

Bayonne had a senior duo take command as Nico Sampson threw for 158 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes and Chance Fischer gained 173 total yards and two touchdowns. The Bees are undefeated when Sampson posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Columbia's offense. They were dealt a 42-0 defeat at the hands of Livingston on Friday. It was the first time this season that the Cougars let down their fans at home.

Bayonne's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.3 points on average over those games. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Bayonne against Columbia when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 47-7 win. Will the Bees repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
