Ridge Point beats Fort Bend Austin for their seventh straight win

The Ridge Point Panthers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They breezed by Fort Bend Austin on the road to the tune of 62-7. Given Ridge Point's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Fort Bend Austin is ranked 524th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Austin Carlisle continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 290 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also punching in three touchdowns on the ground. Ashton Bethel-roman also helped out with an impressive 91 receiving yards.

Ridge Point's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Fort Bend Elkins and 1-7 Fort Bend Dulles (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 21.9% over those games). As for Fort Bend Austin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Ridge Point will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Fort Bend Travis at 7:00 p.m. Fort Bend Travis is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Fort Bend Austin, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Bend Bush at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
