Basketball Recap: New Deal Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when New Deal took on Whitharral on Tuesday. The New Deal Lions received a blow as they fell 57-41 to the Whitharral Panthers. The Lions were probably out for revenge after losing 97-89 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Whitharral found their leader in sophomore Hudson Dobrovolny, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for Dobrovolny. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Griffin, who posted 11 points and six assists.

New Deal has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Whitharral, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

New Deal will head out to take on Ralls at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Whitharral, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-41 defeat against Jal on the 19th.
