Basketball Recap: Marquette Wins Going Away Against Calamus-Wheatland

Marquette hadn't done well against Calamus-Wheatland recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Marquette Defenders strolled past the Calamus-Wheatland Warriors with points to spare, taking the game 47-30. While the Defenders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Marquette's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Calamus-Wheatland, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Marquette will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Easton Valley at 6:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Calamus-Wheatland will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against West Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
