Baseball Recap: Unicoi County Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Unicoi County and David Crockett, and Unicoi County kept the tradition alive. The Unicoi County Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the David Crockett Pioneers on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Pioneers on Tuesday, they had to take a 4-2 defeat.

Kolby Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Unicoi County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dustin Bogart, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for David Crockett, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Looking ahead, Unicoi County will face off against Chuckey-Doak at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Unicoi County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Chuckey-Doak's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for David Crockett, they will take on Cocke County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
