Football Recap: University Hawks vs. Martinsburg Bulldogs
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact University can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Martinsburg Bulldogs and fell 44-13. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, the Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jack Byrer threw for 193 yards and one touchdown. Kaleil Lewis was his top target, picking up 78 receiving yards.
Martinsburg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brian Dick out in front who rushed for 145 yards and one score while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 100 yards and three TDs. The Bulldogs' leading receiver Boston Todd was Dick's top target yet again, picking up 60 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 75 yards and one score on only five carries.
University's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Martinsburg, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
University does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Martinsburg, they will venture away from home to take on Morgantown at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mohigans' defense has only allowed 10.5 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
