Basketball Recap: Seffner Christian Takes a Loss

Seffner Christian extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-4. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-62 heartbreaker at the hands of the Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans. The Crusaders were up 43-24 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Loss or not, Seffner Christian got some senior leadership from Arcadian Davis and Vernon Lee Jr. Davis dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 boards, while Lee Jr shot 55% from the field en route to 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The game was Davis' fifth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Luke McLaughlin, who posted seven points.

As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-4. The victory almost wasn't to be: they were down 43-24 in the second quarter.

Winthrop College Prep Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trajan Henson, who went 7-for-14 on his way to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Henson a new career-high. Jaiden Martin was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Seffner Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-52 win against Cambridge Christian on the 5th. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Carrollwood Day at 7:30 p.m.
