Baseball Recap: Mission Viejo Drops Season-High Score on Beckman

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mission Viejo). They blew past the Beckman Patriots 17-1 on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Diablos with their most commanding win of the season.

Jackson Stonebarger looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Max Osika was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Robert Nestor was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Mission Viejo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mission Viejo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Beckman, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

Mission Viejo will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
