Volleyball Recap: Garner Trojans vs. Corinth Holders Pirates
After flying high against Southeast Raleigh last Tuesday, Garner came back down to earth. The Garner Trojans fell just short of the Corinth Holders Pirates by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September.
Garner actually scored more points across those five sets (94-86), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 10-25, 25-23, 25-21, 11-25, 15-0.
Despite the loss, Garner still got an impressive performance from Marie Perry, who had 18 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Perry is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game.
Garner's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Corinth Holders, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-11.
As of now, neither Garner nor Corinth Holders have any future games scheduled.
