Basketball Game Preview: Taft Wildcats vs. Delano Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Taft Wildcats duke it out with the Delano Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday... One thing working in Taft's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matches.

Last Tuesday, everything went Taft's way against Wasco as Taft made off with a 68-46 victory.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Delano's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were dealt an 82-47 loss at the hands of McFarland. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1256th, while the Cougars are ranked 464th).

Taft will have to contain Jotham Amodo as he made an impact in Delano's last game. He posted 20 points. Marcos De Ocampo was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Delano was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Delano's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Taft, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Taft didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Delano in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 51-46 victory. Will Taft repeat their success, or does Delano have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
