Baseball Game Preview: Streamwood Sabres vs. South Elgin Storm

For the second straight game, Streamwood will face off against South Elgin. The Sabres will face off against the Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Streamwood has won three straight at home, while South Elgin won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.

Monday just wasn't the day for Streamwood's offense. They fell 5-0 to South Elgin on Monday.

For South Elgin's part, they got a great performance from Jack Zaimins as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. What's more, Zaimins posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Mirante, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last ten contests. Another player making a difference was Connor Lund, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

South Elgin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Streamwood, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.
