A Cyrus Jones 97-yard punt return for a touchdown lifted Gilman (Baltimore, Md.) past Calvert Hall (Baltimore, Md.) 28-21 in a big Maryland match up Friday afternoon.

The heavily-recruited senior fielded the Calvert Hall punt with just over three minutes remaining and returned it the distance.

It was Jones' second score of the night. He finished with 270 all-purpose yards.

Calvert Hall limited Jones and Gilman for most of the first half, en route to a 21-7 lead after two quarters.

According to Gilman head coach Biff Poggi, Jones' decision to field the punt inside Gilman's 5-yard line was his own choice.

"He has no rules," Poggi told the Baltimore Sun. "All he has to do is come in uniform. That's all we require."

With the win, Gilman moves to 5-1. Its only loss was at the hands of Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.)

The loss was Calvert Hall's first of the season.
